TELEGRAAF Mai 3rd 2020 HURENINZEELAND – Corona
John and Marlies Slotboom rent luxury apartments with a view on the marina in Ouddorp, but are not allowed to receive guests.
Although the name Marina Port Zélande on Goeree Overflakkee suggests otherwise, the complex with marina and holiday homes is not located on Zeeland territory. On the sun-drenched Saturday afternoon, it is almost deserted because the corona rules still prohibit tourist overnight stays in South Holland. Only a few hundred meters away, holidaymakers in Zeeland are welcome again. And that causes incomprehension …
The rules are simplified in Zeeland since May 1st 2020by allowing night stays at holiday parks in a maximum of 15 percent of the available rental houses with their own sanitary facilities, this is also the case in the Safety Region Rotterdam-Rijnmond – which includes Goeree Overflakkee – also according to the last issued emergency ordinance not yet the case. The tourist entrepreneurs and holidaymakers on the South Holland part of Goeree Overflakkee are therefore bad luck.
John (63) and Marlies Slotboom (56) have been renting luxury apartments since 2010 with a view of the marina in Ouddorp. “It is usually very busy here at this time. Now there is hardly anyone. You can be here during the day, so people who live nearby come to do some maintenance on their boat, for example, ”says John.
“It is downright ridiculous”
Slotboom is furious because of these corona rules, which he says are crooked: “It is absolutely ridiculous that we have to cancel all our guests, while holiday homes can be rented a few hundred meters away in Zeeland. But yes, we fall under the Rijnmond region and are still in the stricter lockdown. But here in Ouddorp there is little going on as far as corona is concerned. So I don’t see the problem. ”
